Mackellar Girls School Reunion

At Expressions, we often say our tea towel fundraisers are more than just a project, they’re timeless keepsakes. That couldn’t be more true for Claire and Nicola, who coordinated their Expressions Tea Towels fundraiser at Mackellar Girls’ High School back in 1999.

Fast forward over 2 decades, and Claire recently reunited with a group of her high school girlfriends, this time with their own daughters in tow. To celebrate, she had a bunch of their original tea towels re-printed, sparking a wave of beautiful memories and big smiles.

Gathered in a sunny Sydney park, the women unfolded the tea towels from their 1999 school fundraiser, each one covered in hand-drawn self-portraits from their teenage selves. The group spent the afternoon pointing out their drawings and sharing stories while their daughters curiously searched for their mums’ younger faces.

Some of these girls have now started creating their own tea towel keepsakes through day care and school, beginning a new generation of meaningful mementos. It’s a beautiful example of how our fundraisers create a thread of connection between classmates, generations, and schools across Australia, a full circle story 😊
