Sutherland Dianella Primary School

By Expressions Fundraising Australia on 23 July 2020

A creative solution in challenging times

During a year full of uncertainty, Sutherland Dianella Primary School in Perth proved that community spirit and creativity can still thrive. With a bit of early planning and a lot of love, they turned a school tea towel fundraising idea into a project their entire school could be proud of.

Thanks to their proactive fundraising coordinator Hayley and a team of dedicated P&C mums, the entire school managed to submit their artwork before the school shut down. The result? A striking, whole-school tea towel design made up of face-only portraits carefully created by the kids themselves.

Why it worked so well

  • Each class received the same clear instructions, creating a cohesive and visually impactful result.
  • They submitted early, securing a bonus 20 free organic cotton tea towels under our Early Bird offer.
  • The community loved the idea of a keepsake that doubled as a thoughtful Mother’s Day gift.

Easy distribution even during lockdown

When we asked Hayley how they made distribution work with restrictions in place, she shared:

“We promoted it to the kids as a fundraiser and gift for our Mother’s Day stall… our office administrators and Principal distributed the tea towels to each class as we weren’t allowed on school grounds. We’re also framing some for the office and library and one will go in our school time capsule. It was a great success!”

A feel-good fundraiser with long-lasting value

Not only did Sutherland Dianella Primary School sell 261 custom printed tea towels, but they’re also considering a reorder for Christmas gifts later in the year. That’s the kind of sustainable success we love to see.

Made with organic cotton, our custom tea towels are both ethical and practical, making them a hit for fundraising and gift-giving alike.
