Clever coordinator Clare from Campbell Street Primary (well doesn’t that have a nice ring to it?) in Hobart North gave us some really great advice and feedback after running a tea towel fundraiser in the lead up to Mother’s Day. We reached out to her to find out more and share some of her wisdom…

Selling 240 tea towels in 2 weeks before Mother’s Day Clare said that it was a mix of newsletter notices, social media shout-outs and posters that she believes was the key to their success. “I think it was the combination of all that worked well as some people don’t access social media for example. We also used Qkr! for payments so people could pay through an app and pick them up at the school office. We use Qkr! for our canteen and uniform shop so it was easy to add them on there. I think that really helped but people also put in paper order forms.”

“I think the timing also worked for us, having a drive two weeks before Mother’s Day – they just sold like hot cakes! Another thing that was really helpful for us and helped us meet deadlines was having a dedicated teacher who worked inside the school and with other teachers to make sure the drawings were completed. The only thing I would do differently is have some additional price combinations. We marketed them as 1 for $15, 2 for $25 or 3 for $36 but we had some people who wanted to buy more! We are still selling them but our aim was to meet $1500 which we will well and truly do. We are in the process of working out our fundraising priorities at the moment but our fundraising dollars go to vital resources for school – readers, library books, swimming lessons, outdoor furniture etc.”
