Masterpiece for Mother’s Day

Masterpiece for Mother’s Day

Fadden Primary School in the ACT were very clever this year in utilising the skills of one of their talented parents to design a Mother’s Day tea towel. Tracy is a textile and graphic designer (check her out – Trace of Colour) and she created a gorgeous outline artwork that we printed in black on our white cotton tea towels. The original idea was for the tea towels to be bundled with a packet of fabric markers and then sold to families for students to personally colour-in and give to Mum for Mother’s Day. Suddenly, along with schools across the country, plans were halted due to early closures.

The school persevered with their project and still marketed the tea towels with the message “Times are a little strange but we still need to make time for Mum. This year’s fundraiser is the best of both worlds…creative activity while at home for the kids and mum gets a gorgeous gift once it’s finished.” Payment for the tea towels was set-up online and they listed several places the fabric markers were available for each family to purchase individually. Collection times were arranged the week before Mother’s Day safely in the school car park and the P&C also encouraged everyone to share photos on the group page of their final creations. Such a great idea for keeping families connected during their time at home! Tracy tells us they were very successful – well done for thinking outside the box and making it work Fadden PS!
